Okay, so after further investigation this isn't quite accurate.  What
*isn't* included with the 2.5 kernels is EA support in the FSDs
themselves.  That is, the VFS interface and syscalls are all there.. but
the FSDs don't implement the required inode_ops.

I assume this will change at some point, but even if it doesn't it's not
really disasterous.. the FSDs can be patched and compiled as modules and
then shipped with our own module.  So.. it's better, but not best.

It therefore seems that if we want to mess with EAs, the best route is
still to patch the 2.4.18 kernel and get the full deal through that.
That's what I ended up doing, at any rate.
