Yes, I want the Linux box to be the gateway.

No I haven't tested it with windows.

It's got two NICs in it.

I think 7.1 is what we installed. I think you've seen the box I'm planning on using.

So I should just have you come over and set it up for me?? Bring the kid. I'm sure by now you two are bonded pretty tight.

  Hi Perry,

Are you going to make your Linux computer your gateway to the internet?

Have you test the external modem with you Windows box to make sure that it works with your isp?

If you use your Linux box as your gateway, you will need two NIC cards in that box.

Are you going to use Redhat 7.1?

I have done exactly what you are trying to do, so I can let you know what the steps are.

  Brian.

They say you should always yell fire if you want someone to come help.

Ok, I need help from one of you Linux experts (I almost said geeks but I need your help). I've completly had it with my internal DSL modem and I want to start using an external one that Brian gave me. The picture is how I think I can hook all of this up, but I'm not sure. Can one of you look at it and tell me if it will work. I also need to know what software I need to run on the linux box in the center and what I need to do on the WIndows PCs. For example do I tell my PCs to use a gateway that is the Linux box? Do I need two NICs in the linux box with different IP addresses? I have two static IPs from my ISP, should I use one for the web site and the other for internet access?

    Thanks for your help.

    Perry

P.S. I'm on a trip to Apple until Wed evening so I won't be able to tahnk you again until Wed night.
