I look at the second patent and Junes comments.  
  Everything looks great.   I do think it is rather
detailed.  It would be nice to make it as general as
  possible in order to cover other implementations 
  of the same thing.   Next, in the field of study
  you have NAS boxes.  I would reccomend something
   more general that covers other storage devices that
  are not NAS boxes.
