- Words by Perry and Lorae Merritt <plmerritt, hypermall dot net> [011006 21:40]:
> It's not really that updated, but I wanted to get your feedback on the drawing. I think it has everything Don' ppt drawing had, but converted to visio. I also went with a much cleaner approach than I had previously attempted.

The picture is nice and clean, though I do have a couple of comments.

- What's the 'Data Manager' in the ADML layer? Why do we have a
'persistent data manager' and a 'data manager'? Perhaps it's
synonymous with the Management Layer in the ADML arch-doc? Also, in the
descriptions, there seems to be a little confusion between FS metadata
  and VSA extended attributes.
- Still don't think we should be advertising the ARVM!
- It's petty, but the ADCs don't actually connect to the Portal.
- Why do we have two 3rd-party software pieces linked together?
- We may, though, want to link a couple of ADCs together, or otherwise
represent the plugin/chain nature of the Backup Preparation modules.
- The User Interface prolly shouldn't be connected to an ADC - at
least not if 'ADC' is still going to mean 'application dependent
code'. It may be connected, instead, to the configuration database..?
- The Logging component is missing.

Looks good!

> June also called me today. She's back from vacation and interested in meeting early next week. Since I'm a loser and can't meet very regularly right now, I'd like June to try and keep things organized and moving forward. There is still a fair amount of work identified in Don's emails that would be good to get done.

I think the documents are the things in Don's note that are awaiting
completion? The particular component documents, that is? I'd like to
know if you think those have a chance of being useful in securing
funding - might prospective investors actually be concerned with that
stuff? If so, we should get to work on them immediately so you and Dan
can show them. If not, perhaps they can wait.

> Don, I'd still like to get a response to my comments on your sequence diagram. I'd like to use it as the basis for the first scenario I put in the architecture doc.

I'm curious how this scenario thing is going to fit in to the document?

> Jay, are you still planning on updating the ADML architecture doc?

Yup - I did update it, and I've been trying to make myself do this CVS
thing in order to get it to you.. heh. My pals Justin and Matt (two of
the guys you met, Perry) are in town from Thursday til tomorrow morning,
so it's been tough for me to do much lately. I'll get it, though,
dammit!
